Abstract
This case study shows the entire process of the Pace-Setter Custom Solid Color Japanese Happi Coat for a Japanese client. The client, a Japanese company specializing in sundry goods, contacted us by sending us samples regarding their customization needs.
The custom happi coat is made of 100% polyester and comes in three colors: black, burgundy, and indigo blue . A total of 600 pieces were ordered. The challenge in this production process lay in finalizing the pattern, which required notable initial communication between the client and us.
After all, through precise sampling, thorough quality control, and customized packing, we delivered the Japanese happi coats on time. The client was pleased with the results and expressed a desire for future orders.
Initial Communication
On April 25, 2025, a Japanese client contacted us via email regarding their request for a custom Japanese happi coat. The client’s company deals with sundry goods, including clothing, accessories, and household items.

Their products are often used in festivals, events, and the retail market. To more clearly talk about their needs, the client sent us physical samples for analysis and quotation. During the chat process, the client specified that the Japanese happi be made of 100% polyester, size 90 x 75 cm, with a total quantity of 600 pieces in three colors: black, burgundy, and indigo blue.

No logo printing was required, and the focus of the production process was on the color accuracy of the dyed fabric. The client also especially requested a care label and custom self-adhesive packaging to ensure a professional presentation of the finished product at retail.
Proofing
After receiving the client’s sample, we first looked into the garment pattern and, drawing on our production experience, created an initial pattern. Because the traditional Japanese happi coat requires a comfortable shoulder width and overall proportions, the client was very cautious in confirming the pattern. We discussed the pattern details with the client many times until they fully approved the design.
The proofing process took eight days to complete. All three colors were dyed according to the client’s need, ensuring rich and even colors.
After the sample was completed, we took a photo of the finished custom happi coats and sent it to the client for confirmation. The client expressed pleasure with the color and overall look of the happi clothing, but noticed that the washing label was missing from the initial sample.

We at once conducted a second proofing according to the customer’s needs, adding care labels and optimizing their placement to ensure they met both the look and standards. After the second proofing, the customer confirmed all details were correct and placed a formal production order.
Customer Feedback
After receiving the samples and the bulk order, the customer raved about the finished product. They commented that the happi coats’ proportions were precise, comfortable, and natural, perfectly suiting the features of the festival happi coat.

The three colors were uniform and rich, perfectly matching their market positioning. The customer especially values our reliability and patience during the proofing phase, noting that we not only strictly adhered to their demand but also actively provided a process proposal.
For packing, the custom self-adhesive stickers went beyond the customer’s expectations, giving the product a branded look. The customer was really happy with our careful inspection during the whole production process, making sure every product was flawless before leaving the factory.
