Because this was a new product development project, there were no existing reference samples. Development started directly from concept discussions and structural sketches.

Material Selection

Material selection was extremely important for this custom pure cotton 8A canvas fabric tissue holder project because the product needed to balance softness, durability, and shape retention.

Main Body Fabric — Pure Cotton 8A Canvas

The body used pure cotton 8A canvas fabric, which provided:

• Better structural support than lightweight cotton
• Natural texture suitable for home décor
• Good sewing stability
• Improved durability for repeated daily use
• Better printing surface for floral patterns

Compared with thinner cotton fabrics, 8A canvas helped the tissue holder maintain a more stable square appearance after assembly.

Decorative Lace — Pure Cotton Poplin

The decorative lace components used lightweight cotton poplin fabric.

This material was chosen because:

• It creates a softer decorative effect
• The thinner fabric avoids excessive bulk
• Easier edge shaping around curved areas
• Better compatibility with floral printing aesthetics

Printing Method — Digital Printing

Digital printing was selected for all four patterns because the designs included:

• Vintage floral details
• Soft color transitions
• Fine botanical elements
• Multiple color layers

Compared with traditional screen printing, digital printing allowed higher detail reproduction and more flexible small-batch production.

Production Challenges

This project involved several production difficulties that had not been encountered in previous textile accessory projects.

Challenge 1 — Bottom Structure Design

The largest issue was how to create a functional bottom structure for the tissue holder.

The original idea was:

First Solution Attempt — Zipper Bottom

The customer initially suggested adding a zipper around the bottom perimeter.

However, after sample evaluation, several problems appeared:

• The zipper curve was difficult to sew cleanly
• The bottom shape became uneven
• The structure looked visually bulky
• The zipper interrupted the soft vintage aesthetic

Most importantly, the overall coordination between the cotton body and zipper hardware felt unnatural.

This approach was abandoned.

Challenge 2 — Fully Closed Bottom

The second idea was to permanently close the bottom section.

Although this improved appearance consistency, a major usability problem emerged:

• The tissue box could not be inserted easily

This made the product impractical for daily use.

Challenge 3 — Fabric Fraying

Since the body used pure cotton canvas, exposed bottom edges could easily fray during long-term use.

The structure therefore required:

• Functional opening capability
• Stable fixation
• Clean edge finishing
• Long-term durability

Balancing all four factors simultaneously became the core technical challenge.

Our Solution

After multiple internal discussions and sample revisions, we developed a new structural solution for the custom pure cotton 8A canvas fabric tissue holder.

Final Structure Solution — Dual Bottom Panels with Velcro

The final approved solution used:

• Two separate bottom panels
• 3cm wide Velcro closure
• Overlock edge finishing
• Letter tape edge binding

This structure solved several issues simultaneously.

Functional Advantages

The Velcro bottom allowed:

• Easy opening for tissue insertion
• Better flexibility during assembly
• Cleaner visual appearance
• Reduced structural stiffness

At the same time, the dual-panel design maintained enough bottom support for shape retention.

Edge Reinforcement

To prevent cotton fraying, all exposed edges used overlock finishing.

Additional letter tape binding provided:

• Cleaner internal finishing
• Improved durability
• Decorative visual enhancement
• Better seam stability

Second Sampling Process

A second sampling round was required after modifying the bottom structure.

The updated Velcro-based construction performed successfully during testing, and the customer approved the revised sample.

This significantly improved:

• Assembly efficiency
• Product usability
• Structural stability
• Overall visual consistency

Final Product Result

The final production included:

• 4 floral pattern designs
• Total quantity: 600 pieces
• Individual OPP packaging
• Random inspection quality control

The finished products successfully achieved the customer’s original goals:

• Soft vintage appearance
• Stable tissue holder structure
• Reusable household functionality
• Decorative home accessory style
• Easy bottom opening system

The digital floral printing also produced very clean color transitions and detailed botanical visuals, helping the products maintain a premium handcrafted appearance.

Despite being a first-time structural development project, the final result achieved stable mass production capability.
